Used Gibson 1964 Firebird III - Ember Red

Turn back the clock to 1964, when automotive designer Ray Dietrich teamed up with Gibson to completely break the mold of traditional guitar design. The result was the revolutionary "reverse" Firebird, and this stunning Firebird III in ultra-rare Ember Red is a brilliant testament to that mid-century golden era. This specific guitar is a true player's vintage dream. It features a repaired headstock and a partial refinish on the back of the neck and the middle portion of the front, making it the perfect player grade vintage piece for a gigging musician who wants authentic Kalamazoo magic without the museum-piece anxiety. It has all the character of a guitar that was loved and played, ready to get right back on stage.

Beneath the Ember Red finish lies an incredible tonewood recipe: a solid 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through core bracketed by resonant mahogany wings, all capped with a bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. This seamless construction produces ringing sustain and an organic, punchy acoustic voice before you even plug it in. Once you do hit the amp, its original Firebird mini-humbuckers absolutely roar. Featuring dual Alnico bar magnets, they serve up a tone that perfectly blends the chime of a hot single-coil with the smooth, hum-free authority of a classic humbucker. To ensure rock-solid modern playability, the bridge and pickguard have been replaced, but collectors fear not—the original bridge and pickguard are tucked safely inside the case!

The legacy of the Firebird III is legendary, famously powering the fiery, lightning-fast Texas blues of Johnny Winter and the thunderous southern rock anthems of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Allen Collins, while also gracing the hands of greats like Eric Clapton and Brian Jones. Outfitted with distinctive rear-facing Kluson banjo tuners and a short Maestro Vibrola tailpiece, this Ember Red Firebird gives you the ultimate opportunity to own, play, and write your own history with a genuine piece of 1960s rock and roll heritage.
