Used Fender 1965 Jazz Bass - 3-Color Sunburst

Stepping into the legacy of the Fender Jazz Bass is like walking onto a stage where history was made. This vintage 1965 Jazz Bass in 3-Color Sunburst is more than just an instrument; it's a testament to the golden age of American instrument craftsmanship. With its iconic offset body and slender neck, the Jazz Bass was designed to offer players a more comfortable and agile experience than its Precision Bass predecessor. The alder body provides a resonant and balanced foundation, while the maple neck and Brazilian rosewood fretboard deliver the snappy attack and warmth that has defined countless classic recordings. The single-coil pickups, with their signature "growl," give you the versatility to dial in everything from the fat, round tones of Motown to the bright, articulate sound of funk and fusion.

This specific bass, dating to October 7, 1965, has been meticulously brought back to life by our expert luthier, Danny Roger. He carefully steam-treated the neck to correct a previous bow, ensuring it now plays with perfect action and intonation. The original pots and pickups are still in place, preserving that authentic vintage tone. Please see attached video for full details. Currently set up with round wound strings, this bass feels and plays great. The pickup cover and bridge cover are reproductions. The Jazz Bass has been the weapon of choice for bass legends across every genre, from the revolutionary fretless innovations of Jaco Pastorius to the thunderous rock of John Paul Jones and the funk slap mastery of Flea. Owning an instrument from this era is an opportunity to connect with a piece of musical history, a bass that helped shape the sound of an entire generation.
