EarthQuaker Devices Scrolls Bass Odyssey

Palen Music Center is proud to introduce the EarthQuaker Devices Scrolls Bass Odyssey, an all-analog tone workstation developed in collaboration with Japanese bass virtuoso Kentaro Nakao. This isn't just another preamp; it is a comprehensive sonic utility designed to transform any bass and amplifier combination into a world-class rig. Whether you are chasing the warm, thump-heavy soul of a vintage flip-top amp or the aggressive, high-definition clank of a modern solid-state stack, the Scrolls provides the architecture to build your ideal low-end profile from the ground up.

The circuit is divided into two powerful halves: a tube-inspired Drive section and a surgical Active EQ. The Drive side offers a versatile range of grit, featuring a Bandwidth control that dictates where the clipping occurs—allowing you to keep your fundamental notes clean while saturating the highs, or vice versa. The EQ side is where the real magic happens, featuring a three-band setup paired with a semi-parametric Variable Frequency control. This allows you to sweep from 20 Hz to 10 kHz, giving you total command over the mix-cutting mids or the deep sub-frequencies that define your stage presence.

Built with the touring professional in mind, the Scrolls Bass Odyssey features a robust, pedalboard-friendly enclosure with flexible routing options. It includes a buffered Parallel Out for dual-amp setups, an onboard Effects Loop positioned perfectly between the drive and EQ stages, and a balanced XLR Direct Out with subtle analog cabinet filtering for ampless performances. Hand-built in Akron, Ohio, this pedal is a high-fidelity solution for bassists who refuse to compromise on their tone, regardless of the backline provided.
