Ever since Paul Reed Smith turned heads with the Custom 24 back in 1985, PRS has continually pushed the envelope of modern guitar building. Groundbreaking collaborations like John Mayer’s Silver Sky and Mark Lettieri’s Fiore proved just how closely PRS listens to what technical players need on stage and in the studio. The PRS Tekton is the bold next chapter in that lineage. Developed after extensive bicoastal artist listening sessions with modern virtuosos, this guitar breaks new ground as a dedicated high-performance platform engineered for technical players who demand speed, ergonomic access, and unrelenting reliability.
Under the hood and in your hands, the Tekton is built around PRS’s thinnest standard-production body and neck profiles to date. A resonant, lightweight mahogany back is topped with an eye-popping piece of figured mango finished in high-gloss nitro. The bolt-on maple neck features a lightning-fast Modern "D" carve reinforced with internal hormigo strength rods for rock-solid stability and rich acoustic transfer. Up on the flat 16" radius ebony fretboard, you get 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, sleek offset dot inlays, and blue Luminlay side dots that make intricate sweeping and high-speed technical runs completely effortless, even on the darkest stages.
When it comes to tone, PRS voiced the all-new Stylus humbuckers from the ground up to conquer both traditional tube rigs and modern digital modeling setups. Built with Alnico 5 magnets, these pickups provide a focused, flatter frequency response that preserves note separation and dynamic clarity under intense gain. Combined with a push/pull tone pot and a 3-way blade switch, you have six distinct humbucking and single-coil voices ready to deploy. Anchored by a string-through PRS Hardtail bridge and Phase III locking tuners, the Tekton delivers punchy attack, monster sustain, and rock-solid intonation night after night.
