Estimated Shipping Date 12/28/26
When PRS sets out to build an instrument for players pushing the absolute boundaries of speed, technique, and sonic aggression, you know something extraordinary is leaving the shop. Named after the ancient Greek word for artisan or master builder, the PRS Tekton "Floyd" is Paul Reed Smith's uncompromising answer to the modern technical player. PRS has spent decades pushing the envelope, beginning with the revolutionary launch of the Custom 24 in 1985 and continuing through high-performance artist collaborations with heavy hitters like Between the Buried and Me's Dustie Waring—who proved just how ferocious a 24-fret, Floyd Rose-equipped PRS can be. Developed with direct feedback gathered at bi-coastal artist listening sessions, the Tekton family plants a bold new flag for guitarists who demand lightning-fast response, modern ergonomics, and rock-solid reliability.
At the heart of the Tekton "Floyd" is a lightweight, resonant solid alder body sculpted with a sleek Shallow Violin carve, an ergonomic belly cut, and an exaggerated treble scoop engineered to give your fretting hand completely unrestricted access up to the 24th fret. Bolted securely to the body is a fast-playing maple neck reinforced with rigid hormigo strength rods—an exotic tonewood reinforcement PRS developed for exceptional structural stability and rich acoustic resonance. Carved to a thin Modern "D" profile, the neck is paired with a 25.5" scale length, a flat 16" radius ebony fretboard, durable jumbo stainless steel frets, and Luminlay side dots to ensure lightning-fast sweeping arpeggios, effortless wide bends, and clean navigation on dark stages.
Plugging in reveals the sonic power of the custom PRS Stylus humbuckers. Voiced with Alnico 5 magnets to produce a remarkably balanced frequency curve and string-to-string separation under heavy gain, these pickups excel through fire-breathing tube stacks and digital modeling rigs alike. With an intuitive layout featuring a master volume, a push/pull tone pot for punchy coil-split single-coil textures, and a 3-way blade switch, you can transition seamlessly from percussive, high-gain rhythm chugs to singing leads and crystalline ambient cleans. Topped off with an authentic Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo system for fearless dive bombs and flutter vibrato that never pull you out of tune, this Tekton "Floyd" comes dressed to kill in an eye-popping high-gloss nitro finish with smoked black hardware.
