This drum features an 8-ply, 8.1mm hybrid shell constructed of outer and inner layers of classic Maple, surrounding a core of rich Walnut. This unique combination delivers a balanced, medium-focused wood tone with a distinct organic character and an earthy accent from the Walnut plies, resulting in an exceptionally versatile voice. The drum’s hardware package is equally refined, featuring the Cylinder-Drive throw-off for precise tension control and Mapex’s signature Sonic Saver hoops, which provide the focused projection of die-cast hoops while maintaining the open feel and warm stick attack of traditional flanged hoops. Finished in Piano Black lacquer with chrome hardware, the Nucleus is a sharp-looking and sonically powerful centerpiece for any drummer's arsenal.
