Designed in direct collaboration with rock icon Slash and Magnatone Chief Engineer Obeid Khan, the Magnatone Lil' Viper delivers massive arena-ready tone in a remarkably compact package. This ultra-portable 8-watt combo is rooted in a British-inspired high-gain circuit design, engineered to offer everything from vintage edge-of-breakup grit to modern, touch-sensitive saturation. Featuring a custom tone control voiced specifically to Slash's precise demands, the amplifier injects brilliant high-end clarity while simultaneously tightening up your low end as you push the dial, ensuring your riffs remain punchy and articulate even under heavy gain.
The heart of the amp’s impressive power section utilizes a matched pair of NOS 6AQ5 power tubes in a push-pull Class AB configuration. Unlike single-ended practice amps, this push-pull setup yields a much heftier, complex, and full-bodied response that punches well above its wattage class. Mated to this is a single 12AX7 preamp tube driving a versatile Lo/Hi gain switch. The Low Gain setting provides a beefed-up, ’60s-flavored British crunch with sweetened highs, while the High Gain mode unleashes a cascaded, modded preamp bite that drips with saturated rock-and-roll attitude without introducing fizziness.
