The J-45 Century 12-Fret in Vintage Amber reimagines Gibson’s most iconic acoustic, the "Workhorse," with a design shift that prioritizes resonance and player comfort. By moving the neck joint to the 12th fret, the bridge is repositioned deeper into the body, allowing the Sitka spruce top to vibrate more freely at its widest point. This adjustment results in a voice that is notably warm, punchy, and highly responsive to delicate fingerstyle playing or light picking dynamics.
Part of the exclusive Century Collection, this model celebrates 100 years of Gibson flat-top artistry by pairing traditional mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top. Mahogany’s natural focus on midrange frequencies complements the spruce’s high-end clarity, while a hand-sprayed satin nitrocellulose finish ensures the tonewoods are not restricted by heavy lacquers.
