Since its debut in the 1950s, the Les Paul Custom has been the "tuxedo" of the guitar world—an instrument that looks just as sharp as it sounds. This modern incarnation from the Gibson Custom Shop stays true to that high-class legacy while offering the muscle needed for today’s stages. With its multi-ply binding and iconic split-diamond headstock inlay, it’s a guitar that has been favored by legends ranging from the jazz fusion mastery of Al Di Meola to the heavy-hitting riffs of Zakk Wylde. Whether you’re chasing a clean, singing tone or a wall of high-gain crunch, this "Black Beauty" delivers with authority.
Under the hood, you’ll find the classic tonewood recipe that defined a generation: a solid mahogany body capped with a two-piece maple top. This combination provides the perfect balance of warmth and snap, while the 9-hole weight relief ensures you can play through long sets without a trip to the chiropractor. The real magic, however, lies in the solid ebony fingerboard and the long neck tenon. The ebony adds a crisp, piano-like attack to every note, while the long tenon maximizes the vibration transfer from the neck to the body, giving you that legendary sustain that seems to last for days.
For electronics, Gibson went with a matched set of 490R and 498T humbuckers. The 490R in the neck provides those buttery, vintage-inspired tones perfect for smooth leads, while the 498T in the bridge is wound a bit hotter to push your amp into glorious saturation.
