This Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue is a stunning tribute to the year the legendary Sunburst finish was born, marking the "Beginning of the Burst." While it stays true to the spirit of the originals, this specific Made-to-Measure (M2M) model features a significant and highly desirable twist: the "Carmelita" neck carve. Unlike the baseball-bat necks typically associated with 1958 reissues, the Carmelita profile offers a slightly slimmer, incredibly comfortable feel—modeled after a specific, beloved 1959 Burst known as "Carmelita." This neck, paired with narrow-tall frets, allows you to really feel the wood of the Indian Rosewood fretboard, resulting in a distinct, articulate playing experience that legends like Jimmy Page and Duane Allman would appreciate.
The construction is pure vintage magic, featuring a solid lightweight mahogany body capped with a 2-piece plain maple top. This combination provides the foundational sustain and resonance that defined the golden era of rock and blues. The lack of heavy figuring on the plain top gives it a rugged, working-musician aesthetic that is full of unique character.
