Description
EVH Wolfgang Special - Smoked Mesquite
The EVH Wolfgang Special carries the blazing spirit, relentless innovation, and stage-ready pedigree of rock icon Eddie Van Halen. Conceived and refined to Eddie's exacting personal standards, this guitar is engineered from the ground up for high-octane performance, blistering speed, and uncompromising tone. Dressed in an eye-catching Smoked Mesquite finish, this instrument blends refined aesthetics with pure arena-rock attitude.
At the heart of the Wolfgang Special is a resonant, lightweight basswood body crowned with an arched top, paired with a graphite-reinforced quartersawn baked maple neck built to withstand grueling tours and seasonal climate shifts. The neck is carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen’s custom backshape and treated with a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish for slick, effortless playability. Capping it off is a fast-playing ebony fingerboard with a 12"–16" compound radius and 22 jumbo frets, ensuring effortless chording down low and choke-free string bending high up the register.
Plugging in reveals a pair of custom-designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups mounted directly to the body to maximize sustain, attack, and tonal resonance. From crystal-clear cleans to thick, articulate crunch and soaring lead sustain, this pickup pairing cuts through any mix with authority. Add in an EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo equipped with the signature EVH D-Tuna for drop-D tuning at the flick of a finger, low/high friction Bourns control pots with a treble bleed circuit, and a heel-mount truss rod spoke wheel, and you have an unstoppable workhorse built for serious players.
