The 1959 Les Paul Standard is widely considered the "Holy Grail" of electric guitars, and for good reason. It’s the instrument that defined the sound of rock and blues in the hands of legends like Peter Green, Kirk Hammett, and Joe Bonamassa. At Palen Music Center, we are thrilled to offer this Epiphone Reissue, which was developed in close collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop to bring that legendary vintage magic to your hands without the vintage price tag.
This guitar is built with a solid mahogany body and a carved maple cap, topped off with a stunning AAA flame maple veneer that dances in the light. The heart of its tone lies in the USA-made Gibson Custombucker pickups—the same high-end electronics found on premium Gibson models. These Alnico 3 humbuckers provide that airy, touch-sensitive clarity and "honk" that '59 enthusiasts crave. With hand-wired CTS pots and Mallory "Black Beauty" capacitors, the signal path is as authentic as it gets.
Playing this guitar is a trip back in time thanks to the "1959 Rounded Medium C" neck profile. It offers a bit more meat than the slim 60s necks, providing incredible sustain and a comfortable grip for soulful bends and complex chords. From the vintage-style "open book" headstock to the aged Vintage Gloss finish, every detail has been meticulously crafted to honor the legacy of the greatest guitar year in history.
