As part of the prestigious PRS Wood Library program, this Modern Eagle V features a selection of timbers that you simply won't find on standard production models. The foundation is a lightweight, resonant Swamp Ash body topped with a jaw-dropping Quilted Maple top, finished in the ethereal Autumn Sky Microburst. The neck is a spectacle in itself—a highly figured Flame Maple carved into PRS's comfortable Pattern profile, capped with a Ebony fretboard. It’s the kind of instrument that demands to be looked at just as much as it begs to be played.
Functionally, the Modern Eagle V is arguably the most versatile electronics package Paul Reed Smith has ever designed. Known as a "desert island" guitar, it features a Hum/Single/Hum configuration with TCI (Tuned Capacitance and Inductance) humbuckers and a narrow-field NS-01 single-coil in the middle. But the magic lies in the switching: with mini-toggles to isolate the slug-side coils of the humbuckers and a push/pull tone knob that activates both humbuckers simultaneously, you have access to a massive array of sounds.
