Description
PRS Wood Library McCarty 594 Singlecut Quilted Maple - Emerald with Light Charcoal Back
Here at Palen Music Center, we love it when Paul Reed Smith opens up the Wood Library to create something truly distinct. This McCarty 594 Singlecut isn't just another pretty face; it is a tonal beast with a fascinating twist on tradition. While the Singlecut platform usually relies on mahogany, this specific build opts for a resonant Swamp Ash body paired with a striking Flame Maple neck. This unique tonewood combination introduces a top-end sparkle, tighter low-end, and an articulate snap that cuts through a mix unlike traditional single-cuts, all while sporting a mesmerizing Quilted Maple top in a deep Emerald finish.
The "594" is named after its 24.594-inch scale length, a detail PRS obsessively engineered to capture the slinky string tension and exact feel of the holy grail guitars from the late 1950s. It pays homage to Ted McCarty, the legendary mentor to Paul and a pioneer of the golden era of electric guitars. When you grab the Pattern Vintage neck, you'll feel that substantial, broken-in comfort immediately—it is beefy where you want it but carved asymmetrically for modern playability. It captures the spirit of the instruments played by legends like Jimmy Page and Dickey Betts, but with modern reliability.
Plugged in, the electronics offer incredible versatility. The humbuckers are voiced to deliver that warm, clear, and woody vintage tone that players have chased for decades. With the push/pull tone controls, you can tap into convincing single-coil textures, making this one of the most versatile workhorses in our shop. Whether you are chasing the ghost of 1959 or carving out a modern sound, this Wood Library 594 is a masterclass in lutherie.
