2024 PRS Silver Sky - Polar Blue with Rosewood Fingerboard
The PRS Silver Sky isn't just a tribute to the golden era of single-coil guitars; it’s a total reimagining built from the ground up by Paul Reed Smith and John Mayer. This collaboration spent years in development to capture the "lightning in a bottle" magic of 1963 and 1964 vintage instruments while smoothing out the quirks of the past. The result is a guitar that feels like a well-loved heirloom from the moment you pick it up, yet offers the tuning stability and flawless playability that modern players demand.
At the heart of this machine is a solid Alder body paired with 635JM single-coil pickups. Unlike the harsh, "ice-pick" bridge tones often found in vintage designs, these pickups are engineered to be exceptionally round and musical, offering a full-bodied chime that sparkles without being brash. The Rosewood fingerboard version features a neck profile subtly modified in the shoulders to feel more "rounded" in the palm, providing an incredibly ergonomic experience for everything from soulful blues bends to complex chord voicings.
