At Palen Music Center, we believe that the first guitar, the perfectly tuned trumpet, or the simple joy of finding your sound is a life-changing moment. For 62 years, we've helped spark those moments.

Now, we're searching for a Director of Marketing who can capture that lightning in a bottle and turn it into content that resonates across every digital touchpoint and drives genuine excitement.

You’re not here to manage spreadsheets; you're here to manage the entire brand voice and presence of a family-owned music store legacy. You are the Chief Storyteller responsible for converting digital passion into real-world retail foot traffic.

The Gig:

  • Lead the Creative Team: Lead and oversee our talented in-house team of a Videographer and Graphic Designer, fostering an environment of continuous content creation and excellence both in store and online.
  • Own the Content Strategy: Oversee all company content across platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Steer the Ship: Be the ultimate guardian of our company branding and brand voice across all 10 retail locations while managing a yearly marketing budget.
  • Drive Traffic & Triumph: Lead and oversee all advertising efforts (digital and print) andmanage external agency relationships for Google Ads. You will be ultimately responsible for increasing foot traffic to all locations.
  • Key Campaigns: Lead marketing campaigns for massive, season-defining events (like Cars & Guitars, Blue Friday and Rental Season).
  • Direct Engagement: Oversee all Email marketing and lead all SMS campaigns.
  • Our Non-profit: Direct marketing initiatives for It’s About Kids, our non-profit organization.
  • Merch: Design and order merch for our stores
  • Events: Event direction, coordination and execution for all stores

Who We're Looking For (The Requirements):

  • Experience that Counts: You need to have the professional experience to lead a multi-platform marketing department, understand data, and manage a team of creative professionals.
  • The Fire: You must be deeply passionate about content creation and pushing the limits of what a retail store can achieve through groundbreaking marketing.
  • The Leader: A natural leader who can inspire and oversee multiple creative teams while upholding brand standards.

The Details:

  • Location: Springfield, MO (In-Office, Not Remote)
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Compensation: Excellent Pay, Commensurate with Experience
