Two men have been arrested for their alleged roles in a Seymour burglary that was thwarted by a woman who beat them and defended herself with a musical instrument, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.
The incident happened just after 9 a.m. Saturday at a home on Maryville Highway when two men forced their way inside while a "female and her young child" were asleep, a Sheriff's Office press release said. The woman confronted the men with "part of a brass musical instrument and assaulted one of the suspects," who in turn fled, the release stated. The type of instrument wasn't immediately available.
The woman was able to get a tag number from the car the suspects were driving and police used that information to track down the car's owner, 34-year-old Gregory Todd Lawson of Maryville. Lawson and another man, Billy Joe Price, 34, also of Maryville, were arrested on charges of aggravated burglary, according to the release.
