The PMC Quick Note is a weekly service provided to all area directors. It is part of our mission to support the lives of band directors across the Midwest. The weekly Quick Note contains helpful tips and suggestions from area directors, spotlights on area college and university band programs, calendars of upcoming events, advocacy articles promoting music education, links to helpful web resources, and much more. Comments, suggestions, ideas, and articles are always welcome.

Call for Ideas......How do you handle a "lazy rehearsal"?
I would like to assemble some of your ideas into an upcoming Quick Note article. Please take a few moments to respond to this request and I will put together the responses in the coming weeks. All responses will be listed anonymously in the article. Share your strategies on any of the following issues:

How do you plan your rehearsals and communicate the objectives of the day?
How do you promote group bonding and a feel of teamwork?
How do you get kids to "care" about your musical product?
How do you promote student leadership from within the group?
How do you create a "sense of urgency" even when a performance or competition is still weeks away?

We would like to feature the Northeast Missouri Music Educators Association Website in this week's Quick Note. Brad Heckman updates and maintaines the well-designed site, which features quick and easy links to district contacts, high school and junior high band, choir, jazz, and related ensembles. There is an updated event calendar, district band cuts, audition forms, and links to affiliated organizations.
