Palen Music Supports Camp Barnabas
In early August, the Palen Music managers and road representatives converged on Camp Barnabas for some company training meetings and group fellowship. But more important than that was our opportunity to provide live music and some hands-on experiences for the campers. They were not your ordinary campers and it is not just an ordinary camp. Camp Barnabas is a Christian summer camp for special needs children. They serve 120 campers per week and host 10 different sessions. For one week, these young people are able to shift their focus away from sterile medical environments and the language of their disability or illness to focus on activities that build their courage and expand their belief in themselves.

The PMC team provided live music for an evening party, and spent the rest of their time in drum circle activities and games with the campers. It was a very memorable experience and we were blessed with the opportunity to serve the amazing children at this unique camp.

Prior to our departure, we presented Paul and Cyndy Teas, camp directors, with a scholarship check to help kids attend camp next summer. We hope to continue our work at camp next season. It is always a joy to share musical experiences with children, and even more of a blessing when you can do it in a Christian setting with children who rarely get to experience what we all take for granted too often.
