Your Kids Will Love This!!!!
Special thanks to Jeff Lean of Liberty Middle School for bringing this terrific website to our attention.
Ever wish there was an easy way to integrate technology into your music classroom? The website Music Racer provides a fun (and FREE) way to quiz your students on note names, fingerings, and musical terms. To play, go to the website, choose which game you would like to play, and then select the instrument that you play. The screen will automatically load the game. Click on BEGIN and then you are ready to go!
Here is a special message to band directors fr
om Dave Carroll, the Music Racer author (and 4-8 band director in the Naperville School District near Chicago):
You are welcome to use this game at your schools. Please monitor your students' entries so that your school IP address is not banned from playing. If you discover any inappropriate entires, please e-mail me right away and let me know.
You may receive a free copy of this game on CD to play OFFLINE if you wish. This game comes with every order of a complete set of fingering charts from fingering-charts.com . The offline version uses cookies to compare high scores, and it is limited to 3 high scores per computer.
Enjoy playing the game! If you like what you see, please add your entry to the guestbook. Thanks! -- Dave Carroll
Questions are flashed on the screen and students and scored on accuracy and the game is timed. As the students progress, the note ranges and accidentals become more challenging. The game even logs the best 50 scores for the month, so your students can compete for the best times against other students across the country.
Schedule a time in your school computer lab soon and your kids will have a blast!

Dear Eric,
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your explanation of the process for obtaining a mechanical license to record. I've read the information on the MENC web site however, have never seen it explained so clearly.
We have been in business since 1987 and have followed the exact same procedures every time. I'm very glad that the publishers are now being okay with the small quantities. What I have discovered is that as long as the publishing company and catalogue number is listed by the composer, they appreciate the FREE advertising and are much more eager to grant permission at little or no cost.
Once again, Thank You for your research and getting the message out. Remember, "Preserve Music, Don't Copy".
Thanks again,
"Shhh" Productions
